Chandigarh, Feb 27 (NationPress) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly criticized the comments made by BJP leader and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar regarding individuals who have been deported from the United States.
The party described Khattar's remarks as irresponsible and lacking empathy. It is disheartening for a Union Minister to utter such statements about the youth of the nation.
Khattar labeled the deported immigrants as “criminals” and stated that there should be “no sympathy” towards them.
“Those who enter a country illegally are indeed criminals. Sympathy should not be extended to them. Our citizens embark on these perilous journeys despite warnings. It is akin to drug addiction. Why should we feel sorry for them?” Khattar remarked when questioned about the inhumane conditions faced by the deportees.
In response to Khattar’s comments, AAP spokesperson Neel Garg argued that the Modi government has failed to create job opportunities for the nation’s youth, compelling them to seek employment overseas. Thus, instead of blaming the youth, BJP leaders should introspect on the reasons for this predicament.
Garg noted that Khattar's remarks were predictable.
“BJP leaders frequently make disparaging remarks about farmers, youth, women, and minorities. It is in their nature to make hateful statements,” he said.
Garg emphasized that the deported individuals come from various states, including Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and others, highlighting the dire lack of job opportunities in the country.
He recalled that in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to generate 2 crore jobs annually.
“Yet, the current reality is that job availability is diminishing instead of increasing. If the youth had access to employment in their homeland, they would not feel compelled to go abroad,” he stated.
The AAP spokesperson pointed out that while the BJP claims to elevate India's status on the global stage, what happens to India's reputation when the US deports its youth?
He cited the example of Cambodia, a small nation that responded decisively to the US, not permitting its aircraft to land.
