AIM 2.0 Set to Enhance Innovation Landscape Through Varied Collaborations: Jitendra Singh

New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) 2.0 represents a significant move towards nurturing entrepreneurship and will enhance the innovation landscape through diverse collaborations, declared Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh on Wednesday.

He made these remarks during the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) High-Level Committee Meeting at NITI Aayog on Wednesday.

"AIM 2.0 serves as a crucial step towards cultivating entrepreneurship, boosting public-private partnerships (PPP), and integrating industry connections to sustain start-ups and propel India’s innovation agenda forward,” Jitendra Singh emphasized.

He urged for early industry connections to ensure the longevity of start-ups. He also promoted a collaborative funding model that encourages accountability and shared responsibility in the realm of innovation.

“A joint investment framework, where industry and government collaborate closely, ensures mutual commitment and fosters an innovation ecosystem based on cooperation and common interests,” Jitendra Singh stated.

While commending the progress made under AIM 1.0, the Minister acknowledged the challenges regarding AIM 2.0's transition into a ministerial structure, calling for an arrangement that preserves the mission’s intellectual and creative autonomy.

“We require a model that enhances efforts without hindering innovation,” he remarked, proposing a hybrid structure akin to those utilized in sectors such as space and biotechnology.

The Minister also highlighted the necessity for an aspirational framework to evaluate start-ups based on essential metrics like publication impact, start-up viability, and job creation.

Jitendra Singh expressed hope for AIM's future, envisioning a progressive path towards AIM 3.0 and beyond.

In a separate address at the National Conference on Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and Blockchain at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry today, Singh underscored the importance of combating cybersecurity threats and harnessing technology for humanity's benefit.

The Minister remarked that next-generation technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain are viable options for the future.

“Artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technologies are not merely optional but represent the only viable path forward,” Singh stated.

"The challenge lies in optimizing these technologies for the greater good of mankind," he added.

Jitendra Singh recognized that cybersecurity and the challenges from next-gen technologies are a worldwide concern, with India being no exception.

He pointed out that the rapid technological advancements of the past decade have led to the understanding that “technology is a double-edged sword, with malicious actors potentially taking advantage of these innovations.”
