Patna, Nov 14 (NationPress) The AIMIM is demonstrating robust performance in Bihar's Seemanchal area, with initial updates at 2 p.m. showing it in the lead for five Assembly seats.

As per the Election Commission of India (ECI), the party is leading in Jokihat (Araria), Kochadhaman (Kishanganj), Amour (Purnea), Baisi (Purnea), and Thakurganj (Kishanganj).

Significantly, four of these constituencies -- Jokihat, Kochadhaman, Amour, and Baisi -- were also won by the party in the 2020 Assembly elections. This trend is crucial for AIMIM, which is striving to broaden its influence in Bihar.

After being excluded from the INDIA coalition, party leader Asaduddin Owaisi expressed his goal to contest 100 seats in the state.

On October 19, AIMIM officially released a list of 25 candidates, including two non-Muslims, aiming to enhance its appeal beyond its conventional support base.

In the prior election, AIMIM surprised many by securing five seats, all situated in Seemanchal -- Amour, Baisi, Jokihat, Kochadhaman, and Bahadurgarh in Kishanganj.

This region, encompassing Araria, Katihar, Kishanganj, and Purnea districts, includes 24 Assembly segments and hosts a significant portion of Bihar's Muslim populace.

AIMIM has been relying on this demographic to preserve its importance in the state's political arena.

Following the 2020 results, four of Owaisi's MLAs defected to the RJD, leaving only Akhtarul Iman of Amour with the party. Iman is currently leading again from his constituency, reaffirming AIMIM's stronghold.

The ruling NDA is poised for a sweeping victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, with current trends indicating the alliance surpassing the 200-seat mark as of 2 p.m.

Simultaneously, according to the early updates from the Election Commission of India (ECI) at 2 p.m., the BJP is emerging as the largest party with leads in 91 seats, while the JD(U) is trailing with 79 seats.

The coalition partners -- LJP(RV) are leading in 22 seats, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) in four, and HAMS also at four.

The Mahagathbandhan is currently at 36, marking its poorest performance to date.

Point of View

It is evident that the AIMIM's performance in the Seemanchal region reflects a critical shift in Bihar's political dynamics. The party's strategy to broaden its appeal and the demographic support it garners are noteworthy and could influence future elections significantly.
