New Delhi, Jan 14 (NationPress) The national airline Air India has declared that it will be offering daily flights between Delhi and Prayagraj during the Mahakumbh 2025, the largest spiritual event globally, in response to a significant rise in travel demand both domestically and internationally.
To accommodate this increased demand, Air India will operate flights on this route from January 25 to February 28.
According to the airline's statement, “These flights provide the only full-service option for passengers traveling between these two cities, featuring premium cabin choices alongside Economy Class.”
From January 25 to January 31, the Air India flight from Delhi will depart at 14:10 and arrive in Prayagraj at 15:20. The return flight will leave Prayagraj at 16:00 and reach Delhi at 17:10.
Between February 1 and February 28, the flight schedule will be adjusted, with departures from Delhi at 13:00 and arriving in Prayagraj at 14:10.
The return flight will then take off from Prayagraj at 14:50 and land in Delhi at 16:00, as noted by the airline.
“With convenient daytime departures in both directions, these flights facilitate seamless travel connections via Delhi for passengers heading to and from various locations in India as well as North America, Europe, Australia, and several nations in Southeast Asia,” the Air India announcement continued.
Flight bookings are gradually being made available across all platforms, including Air India’s official website, mobile app, and through travel agents.
According to Aloke Bajpai, Group CEO of ixigo, Prayagraj now has direct and one-hop flight connections to over 20 destinations, a significant increase from the last Kumbh, where Delhi was the only connection. This shows how aviation is crucial in transporting pilgrims to this year's Mela.
Prayagraj has experienced a 162% year-on-year rise in flight bookings on ixigo, while nearby airports such as Varanasi and Lucknow have recorded increases of 127% and 42%, respectively.
