Amit Shah to Lead 'Badlav Rally' in Punjab on March 14 Ahead of 2027 Elections
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Feb 26 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is poised to kick off election initiatives ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for early 2027. He will address a ‘Badlav Rally’ in Moga, Punjab on March 14.
The State BJP's working President Ashwani Sharma remarked on Thursday that "all segments of Punjab, grappling with various issues, are determined to oust the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from governance and view the BJP as a trustworthy option for transformation.”
March 16 marks the completion of four years in power for the AAP government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
The BJP has criticized the AAP for failing to deliver on electoral promises, arguing that the rule of law has deteriorated in Punjab.
Sharma accused the government of reversing every commitment made during the election campaign.
He stated that the law and order situation is severely compromised, with rampant corruption tied to drug and mining syndicates.
“Health and educational services are declining, and civil servants are facing delays in salary and pension disbursements. The Power Board and Punjab Roadways are suffering substantial financial losses due to unpaid reimbursements under free schemes, leading to months of unpaid salaries,” he added.
Sharma also noted that perpetrators of sacrilege incidents remain unpunished, while accusations of collusion with criminals are being leveled within AAP ranks.
He highlighted that not only has CM Mann failed to guarantee the Minimum Support Price (MSP) on all crops, but farmers have reportedly seen reductions in MSP for wheat and paddy set by the Centre over the past four years.
Small business owners, particularly grocers selling essential goods, are distressed due to what Sharma termed the state government's “tax recovery terror.”
The AAP government has not only failed to construct new roads in urban and rural areas but has also neglected pothole repairs.
Sharma reported a surge in chain-snatching incidents, occurring daily in various Punjab locales.
“Extortion threats are now being issued not just to large enterprises but also to small retailers dealing in basic commodities,” he asserted.
“Violence is rampant, with kabaddi players being killed brazenly, and gangsters openly firing weapons, even outside police precincts and SSP offices,” he continued.
Sharma claimed that the Punjab Police, which once effectively combated terrorism, has been diverted by Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann to settle political disputes, rendering them incapable of preventing attacks on their own facilities.
Sharma concluded by asserting that voters in Punjab will remove the AAP administration in the 2027 Assembly elections and establish a BJP “double-engine” government, reinstating a focus on development.
