'A Chance for Change in Punjab': Home Minister Amit Shah's Rally in Moga
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Moga (Punjab), March 14 (NationPress) In a significant display of power in Punjab's Moga, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday urged the state's residents to grant the BJP an opportunity to serve them. Wearing a turban, Home Minister Shah, who arrived at Killi Chalan village for the party's ‘Badlav Rally’ to kick off the electoral campaign, remarked that the people had given chances to Congress, Akalis, and AAP. He encouraged the crowd to “give one chance to BJP, and it will usher in change in Punjab.”
Shah confidently stated that the BJP had secured 19% of the votes in the 2024 elections, signaling a favorable position to form the next government in Punjab. He hinted that the BJP plans to contest independently in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Pointing out the public's dissatisfaction with the corruption and mismanagement of the AAP government, he asserted that the BJP aims to replicate its governance successes in Odisha, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, and Uttarakhand in Punjab.
“Now it's Punjab's turn,” he emphasized. “The Aam Aadmi Party came to power with promises of change, yet I challenge their leaders: What progress has your Chief Minister made? While Arvind Kejriwal travels across the nation at Punjab's expense, the local Chief Minister has achieved little,” he claimed.
Shah criticized the AAP for its unfulfilled promises of creating 2.5 million jobs, achieving a drug-free Punjab, and ensuring minimum support prices (MSP) for all crops. “This is a government steeped in broken promises, rampant corruption, and scandals. It cannot bring any good to Punjab,” he asserted.
He further accused the Punjab government of becoming an “ATM” for Arvind Kejriwal, asserting that only the BJP can effectively combat the drug trade. “If anyone can eradicate drugs, it's the BJP,” he stated.
Starting his address with religious and patriotic chants, Shah honored Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, on his 350th martyrdom anniversary. He conveyed that the BJP regards the people of Punjab as “younger brothers” and seeks their blessings.
Stating that the BJP is preparing for the 2027 elections to establish a government, Shah appealed to mothers, sisters, and elders to support the party. “If anyone can liberate Punjab from drugs and provide jobs to the youth, it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP,” he declared.
Exemplifying the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and the reduction of Naxalism, Shah insisted on the necessity of a “double-engine government” in Punjab to eradicate drugs and promote development.
