Chandigarh, Oct 27 (NationPress) - The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration in Punjab, along with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has been accused of misleading the public with deceptive claims during the Tarn Taran bypoll and failing to uphold the trust placed in them, stated BJP state working President Ashwani Sharma on Monday.
Sharma emphasized that mere words are insufficient; the government must deliver on its promises, a duty that the AAP government has seemingly neglected.
During the 2022 elections, Mann vowed to provide Rs 1,000 per month to every woman in Punjab, create job opportunities, and enhance the quality of schools and hospitals. However, after three years, the public has experienced neither relief nor progress.
Electricity bills have surged, unemployment is on the rise, and the state of government hospitals has deteriorated further.
The BJP representative remarked that the government has faltered at every level; farmers are not receiving adequate compensation or fair prices for their produce.
“The lofty promises of combating drugs and improving law and order exist only on paper. Daily occurrences of shootings, robberies, and murders expose the harsh reality of the state.”
Sharma pointed out that Chief Minister Mann frequently criticizes dynastic politics, yet both he and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal exhibit double standards that are evident to the public.
He questioned under which authority CM Mann's wife, Gurpreet Kaur, and Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal, are campaigning in the Tarn Taran bypoll.
“Neither holds any official government or party role, so how are they involved in political rallies? This is a clear indication of family politics,” Sharma asserted.
He added that after winning the Jalandhar by-election, Mann had pledged to reside in Jalandhar to directly address public grievances, yet that promise remains unfulfilled.
“That residence has now transformed into a venue for political meetings, while the voices of ordinary citizens are no longer heard there,” Sharma concluded.
