Speaking at the special session of the eighth Legislative Assembly during the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the house, the Governor remarked that the state has transitioned from a remote frontier to a confident democracy grounded in justice, equality, and representation.
Over the past five decades, the Assembly has transformed into a lively forum for debate and policy formulation.
Despite geographical and cultural challenges, it has consistently fulfilled its constitutional obligations with dignity, reflecting the true essence of participatory democracy, he emphasized.
The Governor pointed out that the Assembly has nurtured democratic values by bringing citizens closer to governance, enhancing the rule of law, and promoting productive dialogue.
It has also celebrated the rich tribal heritage of the state, ensuring the protection of traditions, languages, and customs while fostering inclusive growth, he added.
Reflecting on its journey, the Governor acknowledged that the Assembly has been pivotal in sectors such as education, health, agriculture, tribal welfare, connectivity, entrepreneurship, and conservation.
Each decision made has effectively balanced local priorities with national interests, thus reinforcing Arunachal’s contribution to nation-building.
The Governor called upon lawmakers to align their vision with the National Sustainable Development Goals. Development, he stated, should extend beyond infrastructure to encompass education, healthcare, livelihood, social justice, and ecological balance.
By doing so, Arunachal Pradesh can position itself as a luminous contributor to the aspiration of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
During the event, the Governor unveiled the Commemorative Pillar marking the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the state Assembly, located in the Assembly Complex.
He also toured a photo exhibition showcasing the Assembly’s rich historical records.
In a demonstration of unity, the Governor, along with Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his cabinet members, poured waters and placed stones from various rivers of Arunachal Pradesh—Kameng, Subansiri, Siang, Lohit, and Tirap—into the unity aquarium situated in the Assembly complex.
