Itanagar, July 3 (NationPress) The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd), called upon legislators to place a strong emphasis on land reforms, implement effective laws for solid waste management, hygiene, and sanitation, and to advocate for policies that genuinely empower women, ensuring their rights and enhancing their role in public life.
During the inauguration of the golden jubilee celebrations of the state legislative assembly at DK Auditorium, the Governor remarked that the people have faced the significant challenge of constructing a state almost from scratch, amidst tough mountainous terrains, dispersed populations, and other obstacles. However, through vision, perseverance, and people-centric legislation, they have successfully navigated Arunachal Pradesh away from the path of instability and insurgency that has affected some neighboring states in the northeast.
He emphasized, “Instead, we opted for peace, inclusivity, and unity in diversity.”
The Governor highlighted that the current phase in the state’s development is characterized by enhanced administrative outreach and improved service delivery.
“Governance is evolving to become more responsive, more focused on the citizens, and more aligned with the needs of the populace,” he stated.
While discussing significant legislative milestones, he noted that the Assembly has been instrumental in this transformation, not just through law-making but by crafting a vision for the future.
He urged for decisive actions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing environmental sustainability, poverty alleviation, gender equality, and the empowerment of all societal segments.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Assembly Speaker Tesam Pongte, and Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor also addressed the audience, sharing insights on the Assembly’s journey and their aspirations for its future.
In a post shared on X, the Chief Minister stated: “50 years of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, a legacy forged from the voices of the people, founded on duty, and reinforced through democratic commitment.”
“As the Hon’ble Governor of Arunachal, Lt Gen KT Parnaik Ji (Retd), graced the Golden Jubilee celebrations, it was not merely a milestone, but a poignant reminder. Power is meaningless without purpose. Understand your responsibilities, for only then will your words bear significance. Let this not only commemorate a milestone but also inspire a renewed dedication to principled leadership,” Khandu added.
As part of the celebrations, the Governor unveiled the Golden Jubilee Commemoration Plaque, officially launching the 45-day series of events honoring 50 years of legislative excellence and the vibrant democratic spirit of the state.
On this historic occasion, the Chief Minister released the official theme song for the Golden Jubilee, while the Deputy Chief Minister introduced the commemorative badge symbolizing this significant event.
