Guwahati, March 4 (NationPress) The controversial YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia did not appear before the Assam Police in Guwahati on Tuesday, nor did he communicate to the investigation team regarding his absence.
A senior police official stated, “Allahbadia did not inform us anything about his non-appearance before the police team. We were not contacted by his lawyer either.”
A case against Allahbadia was filed in Guwahati, and he was issued a summons to appear before the Assam Police. The Guwahati Crime Branch questioned another YouTuber, Ashish Chanchalani, last week, who is also involved in the controversy due to remarks made during an episode of 'India's Got Talent' show.
The interrogation lasted several hours after Chanchalani made his appearance at the Crime Branch office.
“YouTuber Ashish Chanchalani complied with our inquiry and showed up for interrogation at the Crime Branch. We will call him if necessary, but we are not currently reaching out to him again. We have not yet heard from others involved in the investigation. They will receive new summons soon,” said Guwahati's Joint Police Commissioner Ankur Jain to reporters.
Following Allahbadia’s controversial comments on the show hosted by comedian Samay Raina, Chanchalani was listed in the Assam FIR. Due to his remarks regarding parents and sex during an episode of the show, Allahbadia, widely known as BeerBiceps, faced intense criticism and numerous complaints.
Chanchalani has requested that the FIR filed at the Guwahati Crime Branch be annulled. Since an FIR was initially filed in Maharashtra, the YouTuber seeks for the Guwahati FIR to be transferred to Mumbai.
On February 18, while addressing Chanchalani's anticipatory bail motion, the Gauhati High Court granted him temporary relief and instructed him to appear before the investigating officer within ten days.
The lawyer representing Chanchalani argued that their client made no statements on the show, and that the FIR's allegations were directed at the co-accused. The Guwahati Police filed a formal complaint against Chanchalani on February 10 under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhtia, Information Technology Act, Cinematograph Act, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
