Guwahati, March 7 (NationPress) The controversial YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia arrived at the Assam Police station in Guwahati on Friday for questioning regarding his inappropriate comments made during the 'India Got Latent' show.
The ongoing interrogation is taking place at the Crime Branch of the Guwahati Police.
Allahbadia was originally summoned to appear before the Assam Police the week prior due to his contentious remarks during the 'India's Got Latent' show, which has sparked significant backlash against the podcaster.
A formal case has been lodged against him in Guwahati, prompting him to comply with the summons.
Last week, the Guwahati Crime Branch also questioned fellow YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, who is also facing scrutiny for his statements made during an episode of the show.
The questioning session lasted several hours after the YouTuber reported to the Crime Branch office.
He was interrogated on multiple allegations before being released later that evening.
“Chanchlani has cooperated with our investigation. We will reach out to him again if needed, but for now, he is not required to return. We have yet to hear from others involved in the inquiry, and new summonses will be issued soon,” stated Ankur Jain, the Joint Police Commissioner of Guwahati, during a press briefing.
On February 21, the Supreme Court instructed the Governments of Maharashtra and Assam to respond to Allahbadia's petition seeking to dismiss or transfer the formal complaint regarding the controversial comments to Mumbai.
During the show hosted by Samay Raina, Allahbadia's controversial comments led to Chanchlani being included in the Assam FIR.
As a result of his offensive remarks concerning parents and sexuality in an episode, Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, has faced numerous formal complaints.
