Guwahati, March 7 (NationPress) The Assam Police are preparing to issue new summons to YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, who failed to show up before the investigation team in response to a prior summon.

A senior police official announced on Friday, “A CID team will be heading to Mumbai soon to deliver a new set of summons for Allahbadia to appear before the investigation team.”

Allahbadia was expected to meet with the Assam Police last week regarding his contentious statements made during the ‘India's Got Latent’ show, which have sparked significant backlash against the podcaster.

An official case was filed against Allahbadia in Guwahati, and he was issued summons to appear before the Assam Police. The Guwahati Crime Branch had previously interrogated another YouTuber, Ashish Chanchalani, who also faced scrutiny for his remarks during an episode of the show.

The questioning lasted several hours after Chanchalani arrived at the Crime Branch office, where he was asked about various allegations before being released later that evening. “YouTuber Ashish Chanchalani complied with our investigation and has been released. We may contact him again if needed, but he is not currently being called back. Other individuals involved in the inquiry have not yet responded to police notices, and they will soon receive new summonses,” stated Guwahati's Joint Police Commissioner Ankur Jain to reporters.

On February 21, the Supreme Court directed the Governments of Maharashtra and Assam to respond to Allahbadia's plea to dismiss or transfer a formal complaint regarding the show's alleged pornographic comments to Mumbai.

When Allahbadia made controversial remarks on the show hosted by Samay Raina, Chanchlani was also mentioned in the Assam FIR. His comments concerning parents and sex during the episode led to multiple formal complaints against Ranveer Allahbadia, known by his stage name BeerBiceps.

Chanchlani has sought to quash the FIR filed at the Guwahati Crime Branch, arguing that the FIR from Maharashtra was filed earlier and that the Guwahati FIR should be transferred to Mumbai.

While deliberating on Chanchlani's anticipatory bail application, the Gauhati High Court granted him temporary relief on February 18, ordering him to appear in person before the investigating officer within ten days.

Chanchlani's attorney argued that their client did not make any statements during the show, and the accusations in the FIR pertained solely to co-accused individuals. The Guwahati Police lodged a formal complaint on February 10 under various provisions of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhtia, Information Technology Act, Cinematograph Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
