Guwahati, March 4 (NationPress) YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia is scheduled to appear before the Assam Police in Guwahati on Tuesday regarding his controversial remarks made during the 'India's Got Latent' show, which has generated significant backlash for the podcaster.
A complaint against Allahbadia was filed in Guwahati, and he received a summons to attend the Assam Police.
Last week, the Guwahati Crime Branch interrogated fellow YouTuber Ashish Chanchalani, who is also involved in the controversy due to his comments during an episode of 'India's Got Latent'.
The questioning lasted several hours after Chanchalani arrived at the Crime Branch office.
"YouTuber Ashish Chanchalani complied with our inquiry at the Crime Branch. We will contact him if necessary, but he is not being called in again for now. Other individuals related to the investigation have not yet responded, and they will soon receive new summonses," stated Guwahati's Joint Police Commissioner Ankur Jain to reporters.
When Allahbadia made his controversial comments on the show hosted by comedian Samay Raina, Chanchalani was mentioned in the Assam FIR.
Allahbadia, known by his stage name BeerBiceps, faced considerable criticism and complaints due to his remarks about parents and sex during the episode.
Chanchalani has requested that the FIR filed at the Guwahati Crime Branch, under the Guwahati Police Commissionerate's Cyber Police Station, be dismissed.
As the Maharashtra FIR was filed prior, the YouTuber has asked for the Guwahati FIR to be transferred to Mumbai. While considering Chanchalani's anticipatory bail application, the Gauhati High Court granted him temporary relief on February 18 and directed him to appear in person before the investigating officer within ten days.
The lawyer for Chanchalani argued that their client made no statements on the show and that the FIR's allegations were limited to the co-accused. On February 10, under certain provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhtia, Information Technology Act, Cinematograph Act, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, the Guwahati Police submitted a formal complaint against Chanchalani.
