New Delhi, July 4 (NationPress) BJP National Vice President Baijayant Panda on Friday praised the increasing impact of women on India's advancement, attributing successes to grassroots initiatives like ‘Sangini Saheli’ that empower women through skill development, self-sufficiency, and entrepreneurship.
During the event at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, Panda engaged with numerous women involved in producing and branding handicrafts under the Sangini Saheli program.
“It was inspiring to meet these sisters who are not only bettering their own lives but also uplifting others through community collaboration,” he stated.
Panda commended the women-driven micro-entrepreneurship model, asserting that such “small yet impactful” initiatives are foundational to building a stronger society. “As women progress, the nation progresses alongside them. Their involvement in nation-building is crucial,” the BJP leader remarked.
He also noted the central government’s ongoing commitment to women-led development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “From entrepreneurship and innovation to roles in the armed forces, we are witnessing a notable increase in women’s contributions across various sectors,” he emphasized.
Referring to the vision of Viksit Bharat, a developed India by 2047, Panda acknowledged that transformation is underway, with women playing a vital role in this process. “Prime Minister Modi has always prioritized ensuring that women are beneficiaries of government initiatives. Today, women are not merely beneficiaries but leaders of change,” he added.
The BJP MP highlighted that India, currently the fourth-largest global economy, is set to become the third soon, attributing this economic advancement significantly to ‘Mahila Shakti’ (women power).
“Our international reputation has evolved, and at the heart of this transformation lies the strength and resilience of Indian women,” he stated.
The Sangini Saheli program is designed to equip women from various backgrounds with the skills necessary to create, brand, and market their products, promoting self-reliance and community-centered economic growth.
Panda's statements come within a broader national narrative that emphasizes the importance of women's empowerment in India's developmental trajectory.
