Kolkata, July 26 (NationPress) Following the news regarding the detention of 10 Bangladeshi infiltrators in Haryana on Saturday, Amit Malviya, the Chief of BJP's Information Technology Cell, voiced his concerns that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will now lament excessively about this situation.
Malviya stated, "Mamata Banerjee will shed excessive tears for illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, asserting they 'speak Bangla' and should be regarded as her guests." This comment was made in response to a news report on X that confirmed the detention by Gurugram Police.
As the BJP's central observer for West Bengal, Malviya accused Mamata Banerjee of manipulating language for political gain. He remarked, "This isn't compassion; it is a severe distortion where language is weaponized to rationalize illegal actions. The Chief Minister of Bengal is blatantly undermining India’s national security for her minor vote-bank politics. When appeasement takes precedence over national security, the nation suffers the consequences."
Recently, Mamata Banerjee shifted her political stance from "Bengal in Danger" to "Bengalis in Danger" and has been vocally addressing the alleged mistreatment of Bengali-speaking individuals in BJP-governed states.
Earlier this week, she also declared that the Trinamool Congress would initiate weekend protests across the state starting July 27. She termed this movement a new 'Bhasha Andolon' (Language Movement).
However, she faced criticism for equating this with the historical "Bhasha Andolan", a significant political movement in what was formerly East Pakistan, which sought recognition of the Bengali language as an official language, ultimately leading to the creation of Bangladesh in 1971.
The Chief Minister is also accused of exploiting the sentiment surrounding the "Bhasha Andolan" without grasping its broader implications.
The BJP has charged her with using this concept not to safeguard the authentic "Indian Bengalis" but rather to shield the "Bangladeshi infiltrators" who speak the Bengali language.
