Patna, Dec 4 (NationPress) The Railway Police in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, have successfully dismantled a significant child-lifting gang, apprehending six individuals, including three women, while rescuing the kidnapped boy unharmed.

The primary suspect, identified as a doctor, remains at large, and efforts to locate him are ongoing.

Railway SP Veena Kumari provided insights into the case, which began on the night of October 3, 2025, when a man named Sumit Kumar was resting with his wife and three children on Platform 1 of Hajipur Railway Station. By dawn, he discovered that one of his sons was missing. Despite thorough searches, the child could not be found, prompting Sumit to file an official complaint at Hajipur Railway Police Station.

In response, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was established to locate the missing child and trace the criminal gang.

During the investigative process, CCTV footage indicated the presence of a man and a woman near the sleeping family during the event. The team then performed a technical analysis of mobile data from that timeframe and location to identify potential suspects.

A suspicious mobile number led investigators directly to Arjun Kumar, son of Ranjit Kumar Rai from the Vidupur police area of Vaishali district, identified as the individual who physically abducted the child.

Additionally, Kiran Devi, the wife of the late Ram Chandra Chaudhary from the Sadar police jurisdiction in Vaishali, was also implicated in the abduction.

Both suspects were swiftly apprehended.

Following their interrogations, four additional suspects were arrested: Sonu Kumar (Vidupur, Vaishali), Anil Kumar Sah (Samastipur), Gudiya Devi, and Munni Kumari.

The kidnapped child was successfully recovered from their custody.

Accused Sonu Kumar disclosed that the child had been abducted for a sum of Rs 3.5 lakh, allegedly under the direction of Avinash Kumar, a resident of Shahpur Patori in the Mohanpur police area of Samastipur district, along with his accomplice Munni Kumari.

Law enforcement reported that the payment was made partially through UPI and partially in cash by Avinash Kumar, who is a doctor.

However, this doctor has since fled, and multiple police teams are conducting raids in various locations to apprehend him.

Authorities are also examining the criminal histories of all suspects involved and investigating potential links to other child-lifting incidents in the area.

Point of View

It is crucial to highlight the alarming trend of child abductions, particularly in public spaces such as railway stations. This incident not only underscores the need for enhanced security measures but also calls for greater awareness among parents and guardians. While the swift action of the Muzaffarpur Railway Police is commendable, it is essential to address the root causes of such crimes to ensure the safety of our children.
