Bihar: Students Protest Over Suspected Question Paper Leak in BPSC Exam

Patna, Dec 22 (NationPress) Even after the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) announced a rescheduling of the examination at the Bapu exam centre, students persisted with their Dharna in Gardanibagh here. They unanimously stated that the possibility of a question paper leak cannot be dismissed.
The late distribution of question papers at the Bapu examination centre resulted in disorder, ultimately leading to the cancellation of the exam at that location.
Numerous candidates are now insisting that the entire examination across all 911 centres be annulled to ensure fairness and equal opportunity.
Despite the lack of confirmed evidence, candidates assert that the question paper may have been compromised, bolstered by claims of viral question papers circulating on social media.
“The video evidence -- which the BPSC Chairman also acknowledges -- indicating that mobile phones were utilized within the exam premises at the Bapu examination centre in Patna, has raised serious concerns regarding the integrity of the examination process, as the likelihood of a question paper leak cannot be dismissed,” stated Ravi Sharma, one of the protesters in Gardanibagh.
Student leader Dilip Kumar stressed the necessity for a re-examination to be held under more stringent and transparent conditions to restore faith in the process.
He criticized BPSC Chairman Ravi Manu Bhai Parmar, demanding his resignation due to his failure to ensure a seamless and credible examination.
“As long as Ravi Manu Bhai Parmar remains Chairman, BPSC cannot conduct fair examinations in Bihar. I also suspect that operators of coaching institutes and examination mafias might be involved in the turmoil at the Bapu examination centre on December 13,” Kumar claimed.
BPSC Chairman Ravi Manu Bhai Parmar insisted that no question paper was leaked during the examination.
The Chairman challenged critics to present evidence showing that the paper was shared on social media prior to the exam starting at 12:00 noon on December 13.
He highlighted that the EOU monitored the examination process and found no signs of irregularities concerning a paper leak.
The protests by BPSC candidates carry significant political implications. 40 percent of the youth are supporters of specific political parties.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has been supporting them from the outset. He visited the Dharna site in Gardanibagh on Saturday night, assuring them of his backing.
Tejashwi Yadav voiced his solidarity with the students, assuring them, “If you take one step, we will take four steps.”
He urged the government to heed the students' demands and ensure that examinations are conducted properly in Bihar.
“The government, along with the BPSC, bears responsibility for the recurring paper leaks. During my term as Deputy Chief Minister, there were no incidents of paper leaks, and five lakh jobs were provided,” Yadav stated.
“Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is oblivious to the conditions in Bihar, which is currently being managed by a few bureaucrats for their personal gain,” he added.
He accused investigative agencies like the CBI of being misused to target the Opposition while concealing the government's faults.
In response to Tejashwi Yadav's remarks, Neeraj Kumar, MLC of JD-U, stated, “Tejashwi Yadav ought to provide constructive advice to the candidates protesting. He should not exploit the emotions of students. There were no irregularities in the BPSC examination, barring one centre in Patna’s Bapu examination centre. BPSC has made a swift decision and rescheduled the examination for January 4.”
