BPSC Aspirants Cause Commotion Outside Patna Examination Venue

Patna, Dec 13 (NationPress) Candidates from the BPSC instigated a major uproar in response to claims of a question paper leak during the 70th preliminary examination held at the Bapu Examination Centre in Kumhrar, Patna on Friday.

This incident has ignited considerable controversy and unrest among candidates outside the examination venue.

Candidates assert that the examination question paper circulated online after 1 PM. They reported receiving the question paper belatedly at around 12:30 PM, which reportedly resulted in disruption and dissatisfaction among examinees.

In light of these allegations, candidates at the Bapu Examination Centre generated a disturbance, with some individuals stepping outside to protest.

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has firmly rejected the allegations of a paper leak, labeling them as “mischief” by specific individuals. The district administration has also dismissed the claims of a leak.

The examination took place under strict surveillance, with over 25,000 CCTV cameras installed across 912 centres in 36 districts of Bihar.

A live Command Control Center at the BPSC headquarters oversaw all centres, with dedicated district-level desks managed by technical staff.

District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mishra visited the Bapu Examination Centre to evaluate the situation and address the candidates' concerns. A substantial police presence was deployed to control the crowd and restore order. At one point, DM Chandrashekhar Singh lost his composure and slapped a person, believed to be a candidate. A video of this incident quickly circulated on social media.

The BPSC examination proceeded according to established protocols, with officials underscoring the integrity of the process. They stated that any disruptive actions by candidates were recorded for future reference, allowing authorities to pursue necessary disciplinary measures after the exam.

Despite the importance of the examination, candidate attendance has been notably low this year.

The 70th BPSC preliminary exam represents the largest recruitment in the commission's history, offering 2,031 posts. Approximately 4.80 lakh candidates have applied for these positions, highlighting the high stakes of the examination.

BPSC officials are currently assessing the situation and awaiting reports from duty magistrates stationed at each centre.
