Mumbai, March 5 (NationPress) The nomination of Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the Rajya Sabha has ignited intense political reactions, with opposition parties accusing him of a "betrayal of the mandate". Meanwhile, the BJP asserts that this is a personal decision on Kumar's part.

In an interview with IANS, Shiv Sena-UBT MP Priyanka Chaturvedi launched a fierce critique against the BJP, claiming they are adept at manipulating power dynamics.

"The BJP has conducted extensive research on how to seize control as soon as they take office. They exploit constitutional loopholes, alter power dynamics, and exert pressure on other parties. Even if they are allied with a party, they have become experts in scheming to undermine them — one could say they have practically earned a PhD in it," she stated.

Chaturvedi further indicated that the BJP has employed a new strategy where "regardless of whom you vote for, the government ultimately ends up being formed by the BJP", urging the public to recognize that their vote's value is being diminished.

Commenting on Nitish Kumar's decision to join the Rajya Sabha, Chaturvedi emphasized that the mandate in Bihar was obtained under his leadership. "Nitish ji overcame anti-incumbency to become Chief Minister again because the populace desired his leadership. To suggest that he intends to transition to the Rajya Sabha, potentially facilitating the BJP's installation of their own leader, constitutes a betrayal of the people's mandate," she asserted, hinting that this move may be under political pressure.

Echoing similar sentiments, NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule expressed uncertainty regarding the details of this shift but raised concerns about the timing. "During the Bihar elections, the NDA positioned Nitish Kumar as the leader. Why the sudden change now is something we need to investigate," she stated.

In response to the backlash, BJP national spokesperson R. P. Singh maintained that Nitish Kumar's shift to the Rajya Sabha was entirely his own decision and deemed questioning it as inappropriate.

BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal defended the move, describing Nitish Kumar as a seasoned leader dedicated to Bihar's development. “His arrival in the Rajya Sabha is a joyous occasion for all of us,” he remarked.

This development has sparked renewed discussions concerning leadership transitions and the integrity of electoral mandates in Bihar, as the BJP dismissed allegations of coercion and political maneuvering.
