BJP Leader Criticizes 'Hypocritical' Kejriwal for His Lavish Lifestyle

New Delhi, Dec 10 (NationPress) The BJP has ramped up its criticism of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, regarding the contentious 'Sheesh Mahal' issue. They released a video that highlights the lavish characteristics of his former official residence located at 6 Flagstaff Road in Delhi.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva shared the video on X, asserting that it unveils the opulent renovations made to Kejriwal's residence, featuring high-quality fittings, fixtures, and amenities.
The BJP has accused Kejriwal of living in luxury at the cost of Delhi's taxpayers, especially during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They argue that Kejriwal's extravagant lifestyle contradicts his public persona of simplicity and modesty, a life that would even make the wealthy envious.
BJP National Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa labeled this as "the most significant evidence of Arvind Kejriwal's hypocrisy," drawing attention to a spa-like room and a jacuzzi worth Rs 50 lakhs in the residence.
"This is a man who pretends to be impoverished, wandering about in loose shirts and slippers, claiming he doesn’t even have proper shoes. But the videos of his home reveal such grandeur; a spa-like room that would make even the richest feel ashamed,” he stated.
"A spa room has been created at an exorbitant cost, reaching several crores of rupees. It includes a luxurious jacuzzi valued at Rs 50 lakhs. While they exploit the citizens of Delhi, they indulge in this jacuzzi. The room also boasts a spa table and a private gym -- truly remarkable!" he continued.
Sirsa further accused Kejriwal of "constructing his Sheesh Mahal on the funeral pyres of the deceased." He noted, "While the vulnerable populations of Delhi were struggling for oxygen and hospital beds, he was preoccupied with creating a lavish spa for himself," referring to the period of the COVID pandemic.
Earlier, Sachdeva criticized Kejriwal for purportedly breaking promises made at the beginning of his political journey, such as his pledge not to accept government benefits.
Sachdeva described the residence as a "7-star resort" funded by public money, outlining alleged expenditures -- Rs 1.9 crore for marble, granite, and lighting; Rs 1.5 crore for installation and civil work; and Rs 35 lakh for gym, spa, and sauna equipment, totaling Rs 3.75 crore.
"We have consistently presented the truth about the glass palace of indulgence of the person who refers to himself as a common man, Arvind Kejriwal. Today, we will reveal it to you," Sachdeva wrote, emphasizing that the funds squandered could have been utilized to support ordinary Delhi residents.
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also contributed to the discourse, sharing a video on X.
"With curtains, marble from Vietnam, fixtures worth crores, and a Rs 150-crore Sheesh Mahal -- this is Sultan Kejriwal. In this gym, sauna, and jacuzzi worth crores, the rights of countless impoverished individuals have been trampled upon," he stated.
The BJP contended that the video has laid bare Kejriwal's double standards, urging the public to scrutinize his assertions of being a "common man." Meanwhile, the AAP has yet to respond officially to these allegations.
