BJP MP Urges AAP Leaders to Exhibit Patience as 'Sheesh Mahal' Set to Open for Public Access

New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) BJP MP Ramvir Bidhuri on Wednesday criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders for their sit-in demonstration outside the Flagstaff Road residence that was formerly used by Arvind Kejriwal during his tenure as Chief Minister of Delhi, advising them to have patience as the so-called 'Sheesh Mahal' will soon be available for public viewing.
The comments were made following a protest by AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Saurabh Bharadwaj after the Delhi Police denied them entry to the Flagstaff Road bungalow.
The AAP leaders arrived at Kejriwal's former official residence accompanied by reporters to “investigate” the BJP’s accusations regarding the misuse of public funds in the renovation of the property, referred to as 'Sheesh Mahal.'
Earlier, Saurabh Bharadwaj spoke to the media, revealing their intention to visit the residence. “As promised, we will visit the Chief Minister's official residence at 11 a.m. and try to locate the golden commode, swimming pool, and mini-bar that the BJP claims are there,” Bharadwaj stated.
He stressed that both the Chief Minister's and Prime Minister's residences were constructed with taxpayer money during the Covid pandemic and demanded investigations into the BJP government's alleged fund misappropriation.
The AAP leaders also visited the Prime Minister's residence, which they dubbed 'Raj Mahal,' accusing the BJP government of spending Rs 2,700 crore on it.
In a statement to IANS, Bidhuri condemned the AAP leaders' actions and questioned their intentions.
“When Sheesh Mahal was under former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s control, we raised this issue in the Assembly and even held protests outside his residence, demanding it be opened for public viewing. Why was it not shown to the public then?” he asked.
“Sanjay Singh needs to practice patience. There’s no need for him to become overly agitated. Sheesh Mahal will soon be accessible to everyone. The people of Delhi will respond to the cruel joke that has been played on them in this election,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Atishi accused the Central government of revoking her official residence allotment for the second time in three months.
She claimed that the Public Works Department (PWD) served her an eviction notice just a day before the Election Commission of India revealed the polling schedule for the Assembly elections in the national capital, suggesting political motivations.
However, Bidhuri dismissed Atishi's allegations, claiming that there were violations of regulations in the construction of 'Sheesh Mahal.'
“Investigations are ongoing regarding the residence, and it is widely known that legal rules have been breached. Atishi has been offered two alternative residences by the PWD and can reside in either. There’s no need to escalate this matter, as the public is aware of what has transpired,” he stated.
Bidhuri reiterated the BJP's position, alleging misuse of public funds in the construction of 'Sheesh Mahal' and urged AAP leaders to cooperate with the ongoing investigations.
The political conflict is likely to escalate as both parties prepare for the upcoming elections on February 5.
