BJP Leader K. Laxman Criticizes Allu Arjun's Arrest

Hyderabad, Dec 13 (NationPress) BJP OBC Morcha president and MP K. Laxman has criticized the detention of Tollywood star Allu Arjun in relation to the demise of a woman during a stampede at a theater during the premiere of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’.

“I firmly criticize the detention of the nationally celebrated Telugu actor Mr. Allu Arjun. I express my profound sorrow and grief for the woman who lost her life during the gathering held for the film's release,” stated Laxman in an official release.

“It is cruel to arrest Allu Arjun, who had no direct involvement in these unfounded accusations. To obscure the shortcomings of the police and the government, they have scripted a narrative to distract the public. There is palpable anger towards the government's poorly thought-out actions,” asserted Laxman, who is a member of the Rajya Sabha.

In a parallel development, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has labeled Allu Arjun’s arrest as ‘unjust’. He expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of a woman during the stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, recognizing the irreplaceable nature of their loss.

Taking to X, he tweeted that actor Allu Arjun has demonstrated a responsible attitude by expressing empathy over the tragedy and providing support to the affected family during this challenging period.

However, he strongly denounced the decision to hold Allu Arjun accountable for the incident. “Attributing blame to him for the stampede, pursuing criminal charges, or detaining him is neither just nor acceptable, as he was not part of the unfortunate event,” he emphasized.

Jagan Mohan Reddy urged authorities to act wisely and concentrate on delivering justice for the victim’s family rather than unfairly targeting individuals.

A woman tragically died, and her son sustained critical injuries during the stampede at Sandhya Theatre during the premiere attended by Allu Arjun on December 4.

Police have filed a case under sections 105 (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 118(1) (Voluntarily causing hurt) r/w 3(5) BNS against Allu Arjun, his security personnel, and the theatre management.

After his arrest on Friday, the actor was brought before a city court, which ordered him into judicial custody for 14 days. However, the Telangana High Court later granted him interim bail.

Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Railway & Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu remarked that Allu Arjun’s arrest reveals the Congress government’s negligence towards the creative sector.

“The chaos at Sandhya Theatre was a direct result of administrative failure, yet instead of addressing their incompetence, the Telangana Government is shifting blame with attention-seeking actions,” the minister stated.

He added that rather than targeting artists, authorities should focus on compensating the victims and holding those accountable for the mismanagement responsible. “Regrettably, in just a year under Congress rule, scapegoating prominent figures has emerged as their preferred method of evading responsibility,” the minister concluded.
