Union Minister Kishan Reddy Critiques Arrest of Allu Arjun in Theatre Incident

Hyderabad, Dec 13 (NationPress) Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy has voiced his disapproval regarding the arrest of actor Allu Arjun in connection with the recent stampede at a theatre in Hyderabad during the premiere of his film ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, an incident that tragically claimed the life of a woman and left her son injured.

He described the arrest as irresponsible and unjustified.

“The motives behind this arrest appear to be questionable, especially since the event organizers assert that they notified the relevant authorities in advance. Furthermore, the duty of maintaining law and order rests with the police, making this arrest seem like an attempt to single out an individual,” Kishan Reddy expressed on X.

“This incident also highlights the ongoing targeting and persecution of film personalities in the state. I denounce the arrest and the overreach of the administration,” Kishan Reddy, who also serves as the president of Telangana BJP, added.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has likewise condemned the arrest of Allu Arjun. BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao noted on X that the arrest of the National Award-winning actor reflects the rulers' deep-seated insecurity.

While expressing his sympathy for the victims of the stampede, Rama Rao questioned who had truly failed in this situation.

The former minister asserted that treating Allu Arjun as an ordinary criminal is unwarranted, especially given that he is not directly responsible for the incident.

“There should always be a standard of respect and dignified conduct. I firmly disapprove of the government's heavy-handed actions,” KTR wrote.

“Following the same flawed reasoning, Revanth Reddy should be held accountable for the deaths of two innocent individuals in Hyderabad due to the panic caused by HYDRA,” the BRS leader remarked.

Another senior BRS member, T. Harish Rao, has also condemned Allu Arjun's arrest. He inquired about who authorized the benefit show.

The former minister further questioned who allowed the screening of the movie without implementing necessary safety measures.

“It is tragic that a woman named Revati lost her life while attending the movie. The state authorities bear the responsibility for this,” he stated.

Harish Rao called for action against the Congress government. He claimed that a former village head of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's home village took his own life, leaving a note that mentioned being driven to despair by the Reddy brothers' harassment.
