New Delhi, Sep 19 (NationPress) Senior leaders from the NDA sharply criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday for his remarks that depict Gen Z as champions of democracy and critics of electoral fraud. They accused him of inciting turbulence among the youth of India.
BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain vehemently condemned Gandhi's actions, stating: “Rahul Gandhi is inciting the youth, students, and Gen Zs of the country. He is provoking them against the nation. This is completely unacceptable. The youth of this country admire PM Modi. They recognize that this government is working for them and the underprivileged.”
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also targeted Gandhi, highlighting a stark difference between historical and contemporary governance.
“Those who have pillaged the nation should prioritize their own defense. When his father, the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, claimed that 85 paise out of every rupee sent was lost to corruption, it left people shocked. Today, under PM Modi, if Rs one lakh crore is allocated through government initiatives, it reaches the citizens directly,” he asserted.
JD(U) national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad supported the criticism, denying any suggestion of a political movement among Indian youth: “The youth of India are rallying behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vision 2047. There is no anti-establishment sentiment here… In India, people are concentrating on employment, technology, and progress, rather than regime change.”
Earlier on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi shared on X: “The youth of the country, the students of the country, the Gen Z will save the Constitution, uphold democracy and halt vote theft. I stand with them. Jai Hind!”
By invoking Gen Z as protectors of democracy, Gandhi sought to connect with global youth-led political movements, reminiscent of protests in Nepal and Bangladesh that resulted in significant governmental changes.
With Gen Z representing a considerable fraction of first-time voters, their backing could be crucial in the forthcoming elections. His focus on “vote theft” resonates with prior allegations of electoral misconduct, a recurring theme for the Congress party.
