Patna, June 24 (NationPress) Just a day after Lalu Prasad submitted his nomination papers for another term as RJD chief, Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha sharply criticized the former minister, labeling him a 'convicted criminal' and accusing the party of indulging in 'dynastic politics'.
During a press briefing in Patna, Deputy CM Sinha stated, 'Lalu Prasad Yadav has tarnished the values of democracy. Despite his conviction, he presents himself as a social reformer. This is the culture of the RJD, which has devastated Bihar.'
Sinha further accused the RJD of neglecting democratic principles and fostering a monarchical structure within the party.
'The party does not uphold internal democracy. Lalu filing his nomination for the 13th time is not a source of pride but a blatant indication of the monarchist mentality that governs the RJD,' Sinha remarked.
Union Minister Nityanand Rai echoed similar criticisms, claiming the RJD has devolved into a 'family-run organization'.
Union Minister Rai asserted, 'Since its inception 28 years ago, only one individual has occupied the position of national president. No Dalit, backward, or extremely backward leader dares to compete for that role. It is certain that only someone from the Lalu family will be chosen. This is not a political party; it's a family business.'
He further alleged that RJD leadership has systematically exploited the poor and youth of Bihar and has usurped the rights of party workers.
'Even now, Lalu Prasad's nomination demonstrates how party leaders are marginalized, with decisions solely based on familial ties,' he added.
These sharp criticisms from prominent BJP leaders arise as the RJD prepares for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections under Lalu Prasad's leadership.
The party has announced that July 5 will be marked as the 'formal coronation' and 'Lalu Samman Diwas', further intensifying the BJP's claims of 'cult-style politics'.
