Key Takeaways
Bankura (West Bengal), April 19 (NationPress) - A crowd gathered in anticipation at the rally venue on Sunday, eager to hear from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The enthusiasm among locals was palpable as they expressed their support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting that it would bring an end to the "era of atrocities" they associate with the current Mamata Banerjee administration.
During his campaign stop in the Bishnupur region, Prime Minister Modi addressed the gathering in preparation for the upcoming elections on April 23 and 29.
An elderly resident shared with IANS their motivations for supporting the BJP this election cycle.
"We are backing the BJP because we desire an end to the suffering caused by the Mamata government. Everyone in my village stands with the BJP and Prime Minister Modi," he remarked.
Another attendee, who took a day off work, shared his admiration for the Prime Minister, describing him as an "icon".
"Prime Minister Modi is our greatest icon. He embodies our aspirations. That’s why I took leave to come here and hear him speak," he stated to IANS.
A young participant expressed a desire to learn about the BJP's plans for the youth in the state, mentioning, "The Prime Minister wants to discuss development for our region. We’re curious about what initiatives the BJP will implement for our future."
In his speech, PM Modi accused the Trinamool Congress of subjecting potato farmers to unfair treatment, saying, "I empathize with the youth and farmers in this area. The injustices faced by potato farmers are unacceptable. My only plea is that as long as the Trinamool's syndicate continues to operate in the markets, farmers will remain vulnerable to exploitation."
He emphasized, "The BJP is committed to eliminating the syndicate’s grip on our economy."
Additionally, the Prime Minister assured the youth that 'rozgar melas' will also take place in Bengal, stating, "Appointment letters will be given out during these employment fairs. This is a guarantee from Modi."
