Agartala, Aug 17 (NationPress) The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Pradesh committee has made the decision to expel a youth leader for disseminating 'personal videos' on social media, as confirmed by a party official on Sunday.
The BJP representative stated that Manna Dey, President of Khayerpur Mandal in West Tripura, has been expelled for sharing 'personal videos' across various social media platforms.
In an official expulsion letter addressed to Dey, State BJP General Secretary Amit Rakshit declared that Dey would no longer hold any membership within the party or its affiliated organizations, and he is prohibited from using the party's name in any capacity moving forward.
The letter highlighted that numerous video and audio recordings showcasing Dey's private discussions with party leaders and elements of his personal life had gained significant traction on various social media. Such behavior is regarded as surprising and unacceptable for a political figure and constitutes a breach of party discipline.
The letter also indicated that Dey's actions had negatively impacted the party’s reputation. “Despite multiple verbal warnings regarding your social media activities, you have persisted in breaching party discipline. Therefore, you are expelled from the party effective immediately, as directed by the state party president, Rajib Bhattacharjee,” Rakshit noted in his correspondence to Dey.
The expulsion letter further clarified that Dey had been relieved of all party responsibilities. In response, Dey shared a post on Facebook expressing that he had fallen victim to a conspiracy. “I cherish the BJP and respect every decision made by the party. Consequently, I accept this expulsion decision. I am thankful to the BJP and all the youth leaders and workers for allowing me the chance to serve the party,” Dey stated. He also mentioned his commitment to continue engaging in social activities to assist the community.
