BJP's Tuhin Sinha Accuses Trinamool Congress of Misgovernance in Bengal
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 28 (NationPress) Tuhin Sinha, National Spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Saturday, accused the Trinamool Congress of significant misgovernance, asserting that the state government should be held "guilty" by the residents of West Bengal.
His remarks followed the release of a 35-page 'white paper' by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, detailing 15 years of Trinamool Congress governance in the state ahead of the upcoming elections.
Sinha referred to the BJP's document as a "charge sheet" against the ruling party.
In an interview with IANS, he stated, "Typically, charge sheets are directed at criminals. However, given the condition of West Bengal under the Trinamool government over the past 15 years, the people of West Bengal must deem it 'guilty'."
The BJP's report claimed that approximately 20 lakh state government employees were deprived of dearness allowance and that the non-implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission has left many disgruntled.
Addressing these concerns, Sinha remarked, "Due to the failure to implement the Seventh Pay Commission, countless workers have faced years of underpayment. There is a significant migration of youth from West Bengal."
Highlighting issues of illegal infiltration in the state, Sinha noted, "The absence of border fencing has led to a consistent influx of illegal migrants. This has resulted in the creation of fake voter ID cards, a situation that has been addressed through the implementation of SIR (Special Intensive Revision) of electoral rolls.
The BJP's 'white paper' stated that 569 km of the 2,216.7 km international border with Bangladesh remains unfenced, allegedly due to delays in land acquisition for barbed wire fencing by the state government, which has facilitated illegal crossings.
Sinha further claimed, "Our 'charge sheet' (white paper) against the Trinamool government's misgovernance serves to inform and alert the public about how Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is leading the state into darkness."
"I believe West Bengal is on the verge of making history, and it is clear that the Trinamool Congress will lose the forthcoming Assembly elections," he added.
Additionally, regarding the "collapse of social infrastructure," the BJP's document highlighted the cancellation of 26,000 teaching and non-teaching positions in state-run schools due to a Supreme Court ruling that uncovered widespread irregularities in hiring.
It also pointed out a decline in the healthcare sector, mentioning the state's refusal to adopt Ayushman Bharat and instances of fake medicine scandals, alongside claims that super-specialty hospitals are lacking basic facilities.
