Agartala, March 25 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, expressed his unwavering belief on Wednesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will successfully establish its government in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) during the elections scheduled for April 12.
Emphasizing the increasing public support, Saha noted that the trust of the Janajati (tribal) communities is a significant asset for the BJP in the TTAADC regions. He portrayed the party as a dependable option for fostering comprehensive development and enhancing the living standards of the local population.
Saha made these statements while participating in the nomination filing event for BJP candidates in Longtharai Valley, located in the Dhalai district, on the last day for submitting candidacies for the TTAADC elections.
The candidates representing the party in the Longtharai Valley area include Bipin Debbarma (Damchhara-Kachuchhara), Sukesh Dutta Barua (Manu-Chailenga), and Esmail Joy Tripura (Chawmanu), all of whom submitted their nominations in the presence of senior party officials.
“The level of enthusiasm among the populace is astounding. The large turnout at today’s rally demonstrates the essence of democratic engagement,” Saha remarked, adding that the party's leadership has actively facilitated participation in the nomination processes statewide.
He also pointed out that all 28 BJP candidates submitted their nominations on the final day, expressing confidence that the party is strategically positioned to achieve a significant victory in the TTAADC.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister acknowledged the sustained popularity of PM Modi among the citizens as a pivotal factor contributing to the robust turnout and backing.
Numerous senior BJP leaders, including MLA Shambhu Lal Chakma, along with party candidates and a considerable number of party workers, participated in the nomination rally and submission process.
In the meantime, the BJP’s two allies, the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) and the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), both of which are tribal-oriented parties, are contesting with their own candidates in the upcoming TTAADC elections.
As the elections approach, major political factions, including the BJP, its allies IPFT and TMP, as well as opposition entities such as the CPI(M) and Congress, have ramped up their efforts to secure support among tribal voters.
Both the Left parties and Congress have also nominated candidates for all 28 seats.
The polling for the crucial 30-member TTAADC is set for April 12, with vote counting scheduled for April 17.
The tribal autonomous council is recognized as the second most significant constitutional authority in the state after the Tripura Assembly, consisting of 28 elected members and two appointed by the state government.
