BSF Seizes Pistol and Narcotics Dropped by Pakistani Drones in Amritsar, Punjab

Chandigarh, Jan 10 (NationPress) The Border Security Force (BSF) announced on Friday that it has successfully recovered a pistol and heroin that were dropped by Pakistani drones near the border fence in Punjab.
The BSF highlighted that in two separate operations, their personnel made significant strides in preventing cross-border smuggling activities involving these drones.
During the first operation, a package containing 520 grams of heroin, released by a Pakistani drone, was retrieved from Khanwal village in Amritsar District.
In another operation, a PX5 Storm pistol of 30 bore, along with an empty magazine, was found in a farming area just ahead of the border fence near Rajatal village, also located in Amritsar district.
These recoveries underscore the BSF’s swift response and vigilance of its personnel in thwarting such smuggling efforts, thereby ensuring the nation’s security, according to the paramilitary force.
In the year 2024, the BSF Punjab Frontier, acting as a border security force, successfully intercepted 294 drones, a notable rise from 107 drones in 2023. Furthermore, around 283 kg of heroin was confiscated, four Pakistani infiltrators were neutralized, and 161 Indian smugglers along with 30 Pakistani nationals were detained at the border.
In addition to their operational achievements, the BSF Punjab also executed various civic action initiatives, including medical camps, blood donation drives, pre-recruitment training for defense forces, and public outreach programs, all of which garnered significant recognition and support from the local community.

Punjab has a 553-km barbed-wire fenced international border with Pakistan, which is under the observation of the BSF Punjab. The drug trafficking network operates along the Afghanistan-Pakistan-India route.
