New Delhi, Oct 30 (NationPress) Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia praised the leadership team of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Thursday, as the state-run telecom operator marked a robust performance in the first half of the fiscal year (H1 FY26), achieving a revenue of Rs 11,134 crore.

The telecom enterprise has recorded a 93% revenue run rate against its Q2 objectives, generating nearly Rs 5,347 crore.

Scindia pointed out that BSNL's annual revenue goal for FY26 is set at Rs 27,500 crore, an increase from Rs 25,000 crore in the prior year, highlighting the organization's improving operational and market performance.

“Execution is key in all aspects of life, and our CGMs are the execution champions of BSNL. You are the torchbearers of transformation in your respective circles,” Scindia remarked.

He stressed the importance of a daily commitment to Quality of Service (QoS), describing it as the “non-negotiable mantra” for the organization.

The Union Minister led the second Strategic Review and Planning Meeting (2025–26) of BSNL, with Chief General Managers (CGMs) from all 28 circles participating.

This strategic review aimed to maintain BSNL’s profitability trend, following its historic series of net quarterly profits in FY 2024-25.

During this meeting, the minister instructed all CGMs to monitor key metrics such as mean repair time, uptime, and customer satisfaction indices on a daily basis, emphasizing that “everything else follows from QoS.”

He further encouraged the circles to compare their BTS and OTL uptime performance with competitors, pinpoint existing gaps, and ensure battery and media updates across all circles by December 2025.

“Our operations are measured in days and hours, not months,” he asserted. Scindia also advocated for financial discipline, asserting that no circle should report negative EBITDA. “Every rupee conserved directly contributes to our profit margins,” Scindia highlighted.

In alignment with BSNL’s diversification objectives, the Minister motivated circles to investigate new revenue opportunities.

He referenced the Department of Posts as a model of innovation through new product offerings and untapped market segments. India Post is set to launch six new products in early 2026.

Point of View

It's evident that BSNL's commitment to enhancing service quality and operational efficiency is crucial for its growth. Underlining the need for continuous monitoring and innovation demonstrates a proactive approach. Such strategies not only solidify BSNL's market position but also ensure it remains a key player in India's telecommunications landscape.
