New Delhi, Sep 4 (NationPress) The Union Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, presided over the quarterly financial assessment meeting of pivotal telecom Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) – Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL), and ITI Limited. The focus of this review was on three vital aspects: profit after tax (PAT) results, turnover trends, and future growth predictions.

All three PSUs showed promising progress, indicating a concerted effort towards sustainable growth and enhanced digital connectivity nationwide, as per an official statement following the meeting.

A notable achievement highlighted during the meeting was the financial revival of BSNL, which has reported profits for two successive quarters – a significant milestone after nearly 18 years.

BSNL recorded a profit of Rs 262 crore in Q3 and Rs 280 crore in Q4 of FY 2024-25, marking a substantial recovery from a loss of Rs 849 crore in Q4 of the preceding fiscal year. This revival has resulted in a nearly 58 per cent decrease in the company's annual losses, bringing them down to Rs 2,247 crore.

This financial review built upon the momentum from last month's Chief General Managers (CGMs) Review Meeting in Delhi, where CGMs from all 32 telecom circles presented their strategies for growth, improved customer service, and operational efficiency.

During Thursday's meeting, the effectiveness of those strategies in achieving real financial outcomes at the national level was evaluated.

Scindia praised BSNL's impressive performance, asserting that the turnaround is a clear testament to the government's commitment to fortifying public sector undertakings and enabling them to spearhead India's telecom revolution.

Regarding TCIL, revenue for FY 2024-25 has surged by 17 per cent, with profits more than doubling compared to FY 2023-24. ITI reported revenues of Rs 4,323 crore for FY 2024-25, achieving over a two-fold increase from FY 2023-24 and also securing positive EBITDA in FY 2024-25.

The Minister encouraged BSNL, TCIL, and ITI to maintain their emphasis on innovation, service delivery, and sustainable business practices.

He reiterated the government’s steadfast support in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a robust, self-sufficient telecom sector that guarantees connectivity in every part of the country.
