CM Atishi Refers to Upcoming Projects as ‘Gifts’ for Residents of Delhi: BJP Reacts

New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva conveyed his approval on Saturday regarding Chief Minister Atishi’s statement, where she referred to the urban projects that are set to be launched on Sunday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “gift” for the people of Delhi.

Sachdeva mentioned that it is praiseworthy that the Chief Minister has acknowledged that authentic gifts manifest as development initiatives rather than empty, populist announcements.

The Delhi BJP President pointed out that the RRTS project, which CM Atishi now refers to as a “gift,” only saw the Delhi government fulfill its minor financial obligation after being prompted by the courts.

He also noted that the metro project inauguration, for which the Chief Minister is trying to take credit, faced a two-year delay under the Arvind Kejriwal administration. The approval for the Janakpuri West to Krishna Park project was also postponed for two years.

The Delhi BJP chief emphasized that the approval for the extension of the Rithala-Kundli Metro Phase project also had no input from the Delhi government.

Sachdeva is optimistic that in the future, the leaders of the AAP will redirect their efforts from merely selling illusions to genuinely connecting citizens with authentic development.

In the meantime, the Delhi BJP has announced several prominent leaders in its initial list of 29 candidates, featuring Parvesh Verma from New Delhi, where he will compete against Kejriwal, and Ramesh Bidhuri from Kalkaji, who will challenge Delhi CM Atishi.

Furthermore, Kailash Gahlot, a recent defector from AAP, has been nominated from Brijwasan. The BJP’s list also includes two female candidates.

Ramesh Bidhuri, the BJP candidate from Kalkaji, expressed his confidence in winning. “I am very grateful to the leadership for choosing me for this constituency. In the last 5 or 6 years, Delhi CM Atishi has done nothing for the constituency, and now, after six months, she is coming here just to cut cakes and hug people,” he remarked.

The ruling AAP has already declared its candidates, while the Congress has also revealed approximately 47 of its nominees.

With Assembly elections scheduled for February, political analysts expect that the announcement of poll dates will occur soon. The AAP is relying on its pledges, including the Sanjeevni and Mahila Samman Yojana, while the BJP has criticized the governing party for allegedly misusing public resources and enacting “fraudulent” policies.

The Congress has also raised alarms regarding the AAP government's shortcomings, attributing the transformation of Delhi into a “gas chamber.”
