Jammu, April 20 (NationPress) Former J&K Chief Minister and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah attributed the violence in Murshidabad, West Bengal, to the growing division and hatred among communities.

He stated, “Violence was triggered by attempts to foster division and animosity between Hindus and Muslims. The use of bulldozers resulted in the destruction of mosques, schools, and homes belonging to Muslims. What was their offense? Was any wrongdoing established against them? No. Even with the Supreme Court’s prohibition on bulldozers, the authorities continued their actions. Is the law not meant to be impartial for all?”

Abdullah made these comments at an event, subtly criticizing the BJP government.

He also reacted to BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s remarks that questioned the judiciary’s involvement in legislative affairs, stating that there are four essential pillars that uphold democracy.

“The MP from BJP should refrain from making statements against the judiciary,” he emphasized.

Earlier, Dubey had commented that if the courts take on lawmaking duties, it renders Parliament obsolete.

Addressing the recent disaster in Ramban, Abdullah mentioned that the J&K government has sought assistance from the Centre.

“The Chief Minister is visiting the affected areas today. We have urged the Centre to help us in managing this disaster,” he expressed.

Responding to the ongoing issues of water and electricity shortages in Jammu, Abdullah criticized L-G Manoj Sinha.

“He allocated one power plant to Rajasthan and another to Uttar Pradesh. Why are the people of Jammu silent? When the Darbar Move was taken from you, you remained quiet then as well. Where are the projects I signed?” he questioned.

Regarding the comments made by former R&AW chief A.S. Dulat in his new book about the Abdullah family's position when the Modi government attempted to revoke Article 370 in 2019, the former Chief Minister stated he had no remarks to offer on the matter.
