Congress Criticizes AAP and BJP for Failing Delhi Residents After Years in Power

New Delhi, Dec 25 (NationPress) Congress leader Ajay Maken sharply criticized both the AAP administration in Delhi and the BJP government at the national level on Wednesday, alleging that they had first caught the attention of the residents of Delhi with misleading promises and then betrayed them repeatedly, despite holding power for over a decade.
During a press conference attended by Delhi Congress chief Devendra Yadav and Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Maken, the Congress party unveiled a 'white paper' detailing the mismanagement and failures of the AAP government in Delhi and the BJP at the Centre.
Addressing the concerns of the city’s residents, Maken stated, “Aam Aadmi Party has been in control of Delhi for the past 11 years while the BJP has ruled at the Centre since 2014. The citizens of Delhi placed their trust in both these governments, but all they received in return was betrayal through unfulfilled promises over the years.”
He highlighted the significant developmental initiatives undertaken during the 15 years of Congress leadership in Delhi, emphasizing how the city underwent remarkable transformation during that era.
“Congress was in control of Delhi for 15 years. During that period, new dimensions of progress were established. Whether in development or social welfare, our government catered to every segment of society, including the underprivileged, women, and youth. A solid foundation was laid to transform Delhi into a world-class city,” Maken noted.
Congress treasurer Ajay Maken also shared insights about a foreword titled 'Once in a While, Betrayal Every Time' that he authored for the 'white paper'.
Maken pointed out the ongoing conflict between the Centre and Delhi, stating that both governments continuously blame each other, leaving the residents of Delhi to suffer from their disputes.
“These two administrations have turned Delhi into a marketplace of hostility over the years,” he claimed.
The Congress delegation also ridiculed Arvind Kejriwal's portrayal of being an 'aam aadmi' and raised pointed questions regarding his luxurious residence.
“He carries a Rs 2 pen in his pocket, has named his party Aam Aadmi, yet resides in a glass palace like royalty,” Maken commented ironically.
“Currently, the elderly in Delhi are struggling to receive their pensions. It is astonishing that in a decade, Rs 1,780 crore meant for elderly pensions lapsed, which the Delhi government failed to utilize due to conflicts with the Centre,” the Congress leader highlighted.
