New Delhi, April 11 (NationPress) Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the chairperson of the Congress party’s Law, Human Rights, and RTI Department, revealed that the final interviews for candidates shortlisted for the INC Legal Fellowship will conclude by Sunday.
Highlighting the enthusiastic response to this fellowship initiative, Singhvi stated, “Motivated by the interest shown, the Department is determined to broaden the Fellowship significantly in the upcoming years.”
“We received 2,000 applications, and after a thorough selection process, a group of exceptional candidates has been chosen for the final interviews, which will take place between April 11 and 12,” he mentioned in his statement.
Singhvi added that the final interviews will be executed by a panel including Prashanto Chandra Sen, Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India; Apar Gupta, Advocate and Founder of the Internet Freedom Foundation; and Aaliya Waziri, Advocate and Author.
The three-month scholarship for law graduates will provide a monthly stipend of Rs 50,000.
He emphasized that the Congress party’s Law, Human Rights, and RTI Department aims to create a robust pipeline of legally trained professionals who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to constitutional governance.
The inaugural edition of the INC Legal Fellowship was launched on March 3, 2026.
This initiative represents a significant move towards involving young legal professionals in parliamentary and constitutional efforts, the statement elaborated.
Designed as a platform to connect legal training with legislative engagement, the Fellowship allows young professionals to collaborate closely with Members of Parliament on crucial legal, constitutional, and policy matters, it explained.
The scholarship is aimed at law graduates who have completed either a three- or five-year LL.B. from universities recognized by the UGC and are aged between 24 to 30 years.
According to the fellowship brochure, this three-month scholarship is expected to run from June to August.
The fellows will participate in legislative research on bills, amendments, and committee reports; drafting parliamentary inquiries, interventions, and debate briefs; and tracking significant legal and policy developments that affect governance and rights, as stated.
