Bhopal, Nov 29 (NationPress) - Madhya Pradesh's Sports and Youth Welfare Minister, Vishwas Sarang, made a pointed remark at the Congress on Saturday following an “internal conflict” within the state unit that led to the Central leadership canceling multiple organizational appointments.

In response to objections within the party, AICC state in-charge Harish Chaudhary annulled the recent appointments of district and city organization secretaries made by Jitu Patwari, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, during the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting.

Commenting on this situation, Sarang, a prominent BJP leader and MLA from Bhopal’s Narela constituency, stated, “Rahul Gandhi’s Congress doesn’t even hold Mallikarjun Kharge (AICC president) in high regard. So, what significance does the state president Jitu Patwari possess?”

He further asserted that the Congress has been losing its foothold in Madhya Pradesh and nationwide due to the absence of “democratic values” within the party. “Divisions among senior leaders have persisted, which is why they have been in Opposition for two decades,” he added.

In a strongly worded communication directed towards Patwari, Chaudhary expressed his dissatisfaction, mentioning that these appointments were made without his prior approval, despite being the AICC-appointed in-charge. He instructed that “no organizational appointments of any kind should be made without my consent.”

Sources indicated that Chaudhary had previously issued similar directives, emphasizing that the final authority over organizational appointments in Madhya Pradesh lies with the AICC in-charge.

Despite this warning, Patwari proceeded to announce organization office bearers in key districts, including Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Ujjain last week. Following the public release of the list, Chaudhary declared the appointments “null and void” and mandated their immediate cancellation.

This decision has ignited tensions within the state unit. Leaders aligned with Patwari have labeled it an “insult” to the elected PCC president, while rival factions linked to Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh have welcomed the action, referring to it as a necessary “correction.”

The canceled list reportedly encompassed names from various districts, but the unilateral nature of the announcement is said to have especially upset Chaudhary.

Commenting on his decision on Friday, Chaudhary remarked, “It’s an internal matter of the party, which cannot be elaborated on. When such decisions are made, it implies that there was some underlying issue.” He also expressed annoyance over his correspondence to Patwari being made public.
