When Does the Delhi LG Commence the Assembly’s Monsoon Session?

New Delhi, July 28 (NationPress) The Delhi Assembly’s Monsoon Session is set to kick off on August 4, following an official directive from Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena on Monday, as reported by officials.

In the issued order, the LG stated, “In exercise of the power conferred upon me by Section 6(1) of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Act, 1991 (Central Act No.1 of 1992), I hereby summon the Third Session of the Eighth Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi to convene at Assembly Hall, Old Secretariat, on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 2 p.m.”

On Sunday, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta met with Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Harivansh Narayan Singh to discuss the transformative initiatives currently being implemented at the Delhi Legislative Assembly.

During this meeting, Gupta provided a detailed overview of the Assembly’s recent accomplishments and its ambitious vision to become a model institution of democratic governance.

The Speaker also highlighted that the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) is progressing well and is anticipated to be completed ahead of the upcoming Monsoon Session, which will greatly enhance the digitisation of legislative processes and facilitate seamless digital access to House proceedings and legislative documents.

Furthermore, Gupta mentioned that, as part of the Assembly’s dedication to environmental sustainability, a 500 kW solar power plant has been installed on the Assembly premises and is expected to be operational soon.

This initiative will enable the Assembly to shift entirely to renewable energy in the near future, positioning it as a leading example of green legislative infrastructure within the country.

This move aims to foster the integration of clean energy within governmental operations while significantly diminishing the Assembly’s carbon footprint and long-term energy expenditures.

The push for solar energy aligns with India’s national objectives of sourcing 50 percent of its energy requirements from renewable sources and achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based generating capacity by 2030.

Additionally, the ongoing project to digitise the Assembly Library seeks to modernise access to legislative records, archives, and research materials for both members and staff. In a strategic effort to celebrate and preserve the institution’s historical and architectural heritage, plans are underway to develop the Delhi Assembly complex into a site of national importance, as informed by the Speaker.
