New Delhi, March 25 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled the largest budget of Rs 1 lakh crore on Tuesday, allocating Rs 5,100 crore for the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, a significant women-focused initiative announced prior to the Delhi elections.

Emphasizing PM Modi's dedication to women's empowerment, she stated, "In line with the Prime Minister's vision, we pledged to provide Rs 2,500 to underprivileged women in Delhi. I am thrilled to reveal that this budget allocates Rs 5,100 crore to distribute Rs 2,500 monthly to qualified women."

The Chief Minister also declared a doubling of capital expenditure to Rs 28,000 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26.

"This year, we are presenting a historic budget of Rs 1 lakh crore for 2025-26, which represents a 31.5 percent increase over the previous budget. This is an unparalleled and historic budget," remarked CM Rekha Gupta during the budget presentation on the second day of the Assembly session.

"In the Viksit Delhi Budget, this capital allocation will facilitate the development of roads, drainage systems, and the enhancement of sewerage and education facilities," she added.

Additionally, CM Gupta announced a funding of Rs 2,144 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, one of the Centre's flagship initiatives.

The implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Delhi was a crucial electoral promise by the BJP, as the previous Aam Aadmi Party-led government had chosen not to participate.

"The Delhi government has opted to provide an additional Rs 10 lakh health insurance coverage, supplementing the existing Rs 5 lakh from the Government of India," CM Rekha Gupta announced.

With this decision, Delhi is poised to become the 35th state to implement AB-PMJAY -- the world’s largest publicly funded health insurance program.
