This meeting with President Murmu followed the Chief Minister's announcement of several initiatives aimed at enhancing support for construction workers and accelerating development in rural areas of the national capital.
During a significant public event at Thyagaraj Stadium on Wednesday, CM Gupta oversaw the direct transfer of over Rs 12.40 crore into the bank accounts of 15,706 children of registered construction workers to aid their education.
Additionally, the Chief Minister inaugurated newly built panchayat structures in two villages and laid the groundwork for 59 development projects across 37 villages.
These projects, with a total estimated investment of Rs 134 crore, are anticipated to enhance infrastructure and civic amenities in rural Delhi.
Speaking to thousands of workers present, Chief Minister Gupta emphasized that the progress of Delhi is rooted in the diligence of its labor force.
"Delhi is constructed not just with bricks and roads; it is built by the labor of workers. Ensuring their safety, dignity, and future is our foremost priority," she stated.
The event was graced by State Labour and Employment Minister Kapil Mishra, Delhi Village Development Board Chairman Rajkumar Chauhan, senior officials from the Labour Department, and various public representatives.
She also took the opportunity to criticize previous administrations for their inadequate use of the cess fund meant for worker welfare.
According to Chief Minister Gupta, the current BJP government has committed itself to supporting workers who contribute tirelessly to the city’s development.
"Delhi can only grow stronger when its workers are empowered," she asserted.
Under the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board's education assistance scheme, financial aid is offered to ensure that children of registered workers do not have to abandon their education due to financial issues.
Students from Classes 1 to 8 receive Rs 500 monthly, while those in Classes 9 and 10 get Rs 700 per month, and students in Classes 11 and 12 are eligible for Rs 1,000 monthly.
Undergraduate students qualify for Rs 3,000 per month, and those enrolled in technical and professional courses such as ITI, polytechnic, engineering, medical, and MBA programs may receive up to Rs 10,000 monthly," a statement elaborated.
