Delhi Election Official Refutes Sanjay Singh's Claims on Voter Name Removals

New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) The District Election Officer (DEO) of New Delhi has categorically dismissed the claims made by AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, asserting that the poll office failed to provide information about individuals requesting the removal of names associated with fraudulent voters, including his wife.

In a statement posted on X, Sunny Kumar Singh, the DEO of New Delhi, clarified that the summary of Form 7, which lists the names of both those objecting and those being objected to, is disseminated weekly to all recognized political parties, including AAP, through Form 10.

"Moreover, this information is also available on the official website of CEO Delhi to ensure public access and transparency. Therefore, the assertion that the names of objectors are not being disclosed is factually inaccurate," stated the DEO.

Presenting a copy of Form 10, the DEO emphasized that the procedure for removing any names from the electoral roll follows the guidelines set forth by the Election Commission of India.

The removal process commences with the submission of Form 7, and in all instances, thorough field verification is performed by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), their supervisors, and other officials according to established protocols. Simply submitting a deletion request does not initiate the removal process, the DEO explained.

Regarding the situation involving Sanjay Singh's wife, Anita, the DEO indicated that two separate Form 7 applications were submitted for the deletion of her name.

Upon conducting field verification, the BLO confirmed her residence at the specified address, leading to the rejection of both Form 7 applications.

Furthermore, a police report (FIR) was filed against the objectors for improperly submitting Form 7.

In multiple other instances, Form 7 requests for name deletions have been denied following appropriate procedures and field verifications. Each application is carefully examined and rejected based on merit if deemed invalid.

The assertion that the DEO of New Delhi is intentionally removing the names of legitimate voters is entirely unfounded and without evidence, he insisted.

"All deletions are executed in strict accordance with ECI regulations to uphold the integrity and accuracy of the electoral rolls. The District Election Office is dedicated to maintaining principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability in the management of electoral rolls. Any attempts to mislead the public with unfounded allegations will be addressed firmly to safeguard the credibility of the electoral process as mandated by the rules," he stated.

On the preceding day, Sanjay Singh made serious accusations against the BJP, alleging that the party was purging voters' names from the electoral rolls in anticipation of the forthcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

He claimed that the BJP was manipulating the voters' list, specifically targeting long-time residents and women whose voting rights had allegedly been revoked.

In a conversation with IANS, Sanjay Singh purportedly presented evidence to back his claims, stating, "I will provide you with this voters' list, and I have also presented the list of women whose votes were annulled by the BJP."

"These women have lived here for 30-40 years, got married, raised their families here, and now their votes are being annulled. They are executing these actions in the area where former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is contesting elections. This is a clear sign that the BJP is already losing the election and is resorting to electoral fraud to ensure victory," he added.
