Amit Malviya Dismisses AAP MP Sanjay Singh's Allegations of BJP Interference in Voter List

New Delhi, Dec 30 (NationPress) Amit Malviya, the national convener of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s IT cell, took to social media on Monday to refute claims made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, who alleged that the BJP attempted to remove his wife's name from the voters list for the New Delhi Assembly constituency as elections approach in the national capital.

In a post on the platform X, Malviya expressed, "Who can be more degraded than a man who does not hesitate to drag his wife into the quagmire of politics?"

Malviya provided evidence in the form of pictures of the election affidavit submitted by Anita Singh, Sanjay Singh's wife, stating that she is a voter registered in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He questioned how a person who is not a voter in Delhi could have their name removed from the voter list there.

He further stated: "This is the affidavit of Anita Singh, Sanjay Singh's wife, in which she is affirming that she is a voter of Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Now, how can the name of someone who is not a voter of Delhi be removed from the voter list of Delhi?"

Malviya added: "If she (Sanjay Singh's wife) has identified herself as a voter of Sultanpur in the affidavit, but also votes in Delhi, then it is a criminal offense according to the law. Now Sanjay Singh should decide how much more he wants to humiliate his wife."

On Sunday, Sanjay Singh accused the BJP of attempting to delete his wife's name from the voters list of the New Delhi Assembly seat.

The prominent AAP leader, known for his strong criticisms of the BJP, alleged during a press conference that the party was systematically removing the names of Purvanchali individuals residing in Delhi. He was joined by his wife, Anita Singh, who originates from eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Purvanchalis, who come from eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, constitute a significant voter demographic in the national capital. Both the BJP and AAP are competing for their support ahead of the February elections.

Sanjay Singh claimed that two requests were submitted on December 25 and 26 for the deletion of his wife's name from the voter list for the New Delhi constituency represented by AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal.

"They (BJP) initiated a campaign to remove voters' names from the list. They think that they can teach Sanjay Singh a lesson. What they have done -- the New Delhi constituency, where Arvind Kejriwal is the MLA, they (BJP) submitted an application to remove my wife, Anita Singh, from the voter list, and not just once but twice -- on December 24 and 26," Singh asserted.

He accused the BJP of targeting him because he raised the issue of Purvanchali voters' names being removed from the voter list in the Rajya Sabha.

The BJP has alleged that names of Rohingya and Bangladeshi individuals were added to the voter list at the behest of AAP, accusing the ruling party of aiding illegal immigrants with documentation.

Earlier on Sunday, Kejriwal accused the BJP of executing "Operation Lotus" in the New Delhi constituency starting December 15 to remove voters' names from the electoral list.

"In my New Delhi assembly constituency -- their (BJP) 'operation Lotus' has been running since December 15. In these 15 days, they have applied to delete 5,000 votes and add 7,500 votes. Why hold elections if you are manipulating around 12 percent of total voters in the Assembly? A kind of 'game' is being played out in the name of elections," Kejriwal stated at a press conference.
