Delhi Police Breaks Major Arms Trafficking Ring Connected to Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh with 10 Arrests
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 25 (NationPress) The Crime Branch of Delhi Police successfully dismantled a significant international arms trafficking operation linked to Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh, which was based in the Walled City of the national capital. A total of ten key members of this interstate network have been apprehended, along with a substantial collection of advanced foreign-manufactured weapons.
Officials reported the seizure of 21 high-caliber weapons, inclusive of a submachine gun and numerous semi-automatic pistols, alongside approximately 200 live cartridges during the operation.
The confiscated arms feature cutting-edge firearms such as the PX-5.7 pistol, Stoeger pistols (produced in Türkiye), PX-3 pistols (originating from China), Shadow CZ (from the Czech Republic), Beretta (crafted in Italy), Taurus (from Brazil), and Walther (manufactured in Germany). Notably, the PX-5.7 pistol is primarily employed by Special Forces.
Initial investigations have indicated that these weapons were smuggled into India from Pakistan via the India-Nepal border. Following this, the arms were transported to Delhi and subsequently distributed to criminal organizations operating within Delhi-NCR and other regions.
During the interrogation process, it was revealed that the entire operation was being managed from the Walled City of Delhi. The suspects allegedly coordinated the movement of arms across international borders and facilitated their distribution to organized crime factions. Investigators are now seeking to determine if these weapons were intended for major criminal endeavors or potential terrorist actions.
Authorities are also scrutinizing the financial dealings associated with the accused to unearth the masterminds orchestrating the network and to trace the ultimate recipients of the smuggled arms. Enhanced surveillance measures are being implemented to identify any possible sleeper cells connected to this operation. The individuals in custody are undergoing further interrogation to reveal the complete extent of the criminal network.
Officials highlighted that in November 2025, the Delhi Police similarly dismantled an international illegal arms racket that supplied China- and Turkey-made weapons to notorious gangs, including those affiliated with Lawrence Bishnoi, Bambiha, and Gogi Himanshu Bhai. This previous racket, allegedly connected to Pakistan’s ISI, utilized drones to transport shipments across the Punjab border, after which the weapons were distributed to gang leaders in the national capital region and surrounding areas. Further investigations into the current case are ongoing.
