Hyderabad, June 2 (NationPress) Aiming to enhance travel convenience, plans are in progress to launch direct flight services between Hyderabad and the Japanese city of Kitakyushu, as stated by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday.
This announcement followed a meeting with a delegation from Kitakyushu, led by Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi.
The Telangana government has formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kitakyushu focusing on collaboration in critical sectors like environmental protection, waste management, and recycling.
Mayor Takeuchi's visit coincided with the Telangana Formation Day celebrations and is a follow-up to the Chief Minister's trip to Japan in April, where he engaged with the Mayor of Kitakyushu.
During that visit, several Letters of Intent (LoIs) were established with various Japanese institutions aimed at promoting environmental projects.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the state is actively pursuing new global partnerships to initiate innovative projects that support sustainable development and future growth.
Inspired by Kitakyushu's Eco-Town model, the Chief Minister revealed that the Telangana government has signed multiple MoUs with Japanese companies to adapt a similar model in Hyderabad. This partnership is expected to pave the way for a circular economy, zero emissions initiatives, and urban innovation, as articulated by the Chief Minister's Office.
Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted the government's commitment to the revitalization and development of the Musi River as a significant urban rejuvenation project. "Skill development for Telangana's youth is a priority. Our students are eager to learn the Japanese language and pursue opportunities in Japan. With your assistance, we plan to implement Japanese language training for our aspiring youth," stated Revanth Reddy.
He praised the leadership of Kitakyushu, noting that the city’s development model aligns perfectly with the vision of ‘Telangana Rising’.
He expressed hope that the friendship between the two regions will strengthen and endure for years to come.
The meeting was also attended by numerous public representatives, including Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi, Chief Secretary K. Rama Krishna Rao, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and other senior government officials.
