Amaravati, March 15 (NationPress) A tragic incident unfolded in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district when four family members lost their lives due to asphyxiation caused by smoke from a motorcycle that had been running all night, according to police reports on Sunday.

The unfortunate event took place in Punganur town during the early hours of Sunday.

All four victims were found deceased in their home on Tyagaraja Street.

The individuals who perished were identified as a grandfather, alongside his two granddaughters and a grandson.

As per police details, one Murali, who operates a hair salon, had his motorcycle serviced at a local mechanic on Saturday. Due to an engine issue, the mechanic replaced the bore piston and advised Murali to keep the engine running throughout the night.

Murali then shut all the windows and left the bike on. While he and his wife Revati slept on the terrace, his father Ramachandraiah, their son Karthik, and twin daughters Charita and Chandana rested inside the house.

With all doors and windows sealed, the smoke from the motorcycle permeated the home.

On Sunday morning, Ramchandraiah (70), along with his twin granddaughters Charita and Chandana, aged 8, and grandson Karthik (15), were discovered lifeless.

Fortunately, Murali and Revati escaped as they were sleeping on the terrace.

Authorities transported the bodies for a post-mortem examination. Initial investigations indicate that the cause of death was asphyxiation due to carbon monoxide inhalation.

This shocking event has left the local community in disbelief. Police have initiated a case and are conducting further inquiries.

In a separate incident, two individuals were killed in a road accident in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

The collision occurred at BHPV Junction when a truck ran over stationary vehicles at the intersection, resulting in two fatalities.

A man named Ramakrishna, who was en route to Simhachalam with his daughter, was among the deceased. Another victim was identified as Santoshi.

Several vehicles, including a car and two two-wheelers, sustained damage in the incident.

Authorities have apprehended the truck driver and commenced an investigation.
