Patna, Jan 13 (NationPress) The Patna Police have filed an FIR against 25 unidentified individuals, reportedly supporters of Purnea MP Pappu Yadav, for instigating chaos and damaging a vehicle during the 'Bihar Bandh' on Sunday.
The supporters of Pappu Yadav vandalized a vehicle, shattering the windscreen of a truck, and assaulted its driver.
The FIR was lodged at the Pirbahore police station. The Station House Officer (SHO) confirmed that the complaint was made by the owner of the vehicle.
“We have filed an FIR against 25 unidentified individuals who are affiliated with Pappu Yadav. We are also working to identify others using video and CCTV evidence,” stated the SHO.
Demonstrators obstructed traffic in locations like Ashok Rajpath, Dak Bungalow Crossing, and near Patna Science College, setting tyres ablaze and blocking roads to enforce the bandh.
They also pressured local merchants to close their shops. The protestors have been charged under relevant laws for disrupting traffic, damaging property, and disturbing public order by conducting an unauthorized procession.
The SHO mentioned that Pappu Yadav was not present during the disturbance.
Supporters of Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan, commonly known as Pappu Yadav, organized protests across Patna as part of a state-wide 'Bihar Bandh'.
This bandh, called by Yadav, resulted in significant disruption and disorderly conduct by his supporters in Patna.
The bandh was held in support of candidates from the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) protesting alleged discrepancies in the commission's December 13, 2024, examination at a Patna center.
Approximately 150 individuals participated in an unauthorized march from Ashok Rajpath to Dak Bungalow Chowk via Kargil Chowk.
This procession caused major traffic disturbances and public inconvenience. Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh has stated that strict measures will be taken against the protestors.
Investigations are ongoing to identify additional individuals involved in the incidents through surveillance footage.
The DM assured that the situation is now under control and that vehicular movement has been restored in most parts.
