Governor and Chief Minister Express Condolences for Dr. Singh's Passing; Telangana Declares Holiday

Hyderabad, Dec 27 (NationPress) The government of Telangana has officially declared a holiday for all state government offices and educational institutions on Friday to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who sadly passed away in New Delhi on Thursday night. His passing was lamented by both the Governor and the Chief Minister of Telangana.
The state government has also initiated a seven-day period of mourning. Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari has issued directives in this regard.
"The Government of Telangana expresses profound sorrow regarding the passing of Shri Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India on 26-12-2024. As a tribute to this esteemed leader, a holiday for all government offices and educational institutions is declared on 27-12-2024, alongside a week of state mourning. The national flag will be flown at half-mast throughout this mourning period," the order states.
In the meantime, the Governor of Telangana has conveyed his condolences regarding the loss of the former Prime Minister.
"Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was a remarkable politician who served the nation with excellence in various roles," the Governor remarked in his condolence message.
"A distinguished scholar and statesman, his policies have had a profound and lasting influence on India's developmental trajectory. I am deeply saddened by his passing and extend my heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time," he added.
Earlier, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed his sorrow over the loss of Dr. Singh.
"One of the greatest economists, leaders, reformers, and above all, a humanitarian of our era, Shri Manmohan Singh is no longer with us," Revanth Reddy posted on X late Thursday night.
The Chief Minister, who was at a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Belagavi, Karnataka, referred to Manmohan Singh as a figure of virtue, impeccable integrity, and a true architect of modern India.
"A person of virtue and unmatched integrity, marked by a compassionate approach to decision-making, Dr. Singh was genuinely one of the architects of modern India. He demonstrated that decency and class are crucial elements in political and public life. India has lost a great son with his passing," the Chief Minister stated.
"Indeed, in his own words, history will remember him with more kindness and respect than he perhaps received during his lifetime. My thoughts and deepest condolences are with his bereaved family during this time of sorrow," he concluded.
