Key Takeaways
Patna, Nov 1 (NationPress) Union Commerce Minister and prominent BJP figure Piyush Goyal fiercely criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Mahagathbandhan alliance during his speech at NDTV’s Bihar Power Play conclave, organized in light of the current Bihar Assembly elections.
The Union Minister dismissed the Opposition's commitments as superficial, labeling their leadership as representative of unsuccessful political ventures, while advocating for the NDA's agenda for development and employment in Bihar.
In reaction to RJD leader's assertion that the NDA has emulated their election manifesto, Goyal remarked that “those who fail the exam keep crying all the time.” He characterized the Mahagathbandhan as a failed experiment, stating that Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav epitomize this failure.
Union Minister Goyal further challenged the Mahagathbandhan's claim of generating 2.5 crore jobs, emphasizing the limitations of the budget.
“We have committed to creating one crore jobs, encompassing both government and private sectors. This is a feasible promise, and we have devised a strategy to attract technology companies and establish industrial parks here,” he explained.
He questioned, “Is it wrong if someone from Bihar goes to Japan?” challenging the notion that migration signifies loss.
Goyal asserted that the youth of Bihar are increasingly opting to stay in their home state, which is now presenting more job opportunities.
“Today’s youth are emerging as job creators. Resources are being developed here, which is transforming the landscape,” he noted.
The Union Minister acknowledged the role of the “double-engine government” led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in facilitating transformative development.
He pointed out advancements in infrastructure, stating that Patna, once notorious for congestion, now features flyovers and is set to introduce a Metro system.
“No one would have imagined this a decade ago,” he remarked.
He also highlighted Bihar's industrial advancements, mentioning the establishment of 14 ethanol plants and the initiation of the Makhana Board as instances of value addition.
“Infrastructure leads to opportunity,” he said, referencing new highways, rural roads, and housing schemes that have enhanced livelihoods throughout the state.
Regarding employment, Union Minister Goyal dismissed the Mahagathbandhan's pledge of 2.5 crore jobs as fiscally impractical.
“We have promised one crore jobs—both in government and private sectors—and we possess a roadmap to attract tech firms and develop industrial parks,” he reiterated.
Addressing concerns about rising crime rates in Bihar, Goyal noted that improved law enforcement has resulted in an increase in registered FIRs.
“Previously, individuals hesitated to report crimes. Today, women feel secure walking at night, and farmers are earning more,” he concluded.
