Chandigarh, April 26 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, instructed the Forest Department officials on Saturday to construct as many check dams as possible in the hilly regions to enhance rainwater conservation.
“This initiative will also contribute to maintaining the groundwater levels,” stated the Chief Minister while reviewing various departmental projects, including those related to Home, Revenue, Environment, Forest and Wildlife, and Transport, all under the banner of ‘CM Announcements’.
He is scheduled to review the remaining departments on April 29, as per an official announcement. Saini emphasized to officials the necessity of ensuring quality in the construction of these check dams without any compromises. He also instructed them to assess the current state of existing check dams and undertake necessary repairs.
The Chief Minister called for the planting of saplings along roadsides during the upcoming monsoon season and stressed the importance of their survival. He urged officials to turn the concept of establishing at least two ‘Oxyvans’ in every district into a reality. While addressing the issue of cleaning the Ghaggar river, he noted that in certain areas, sullage is treated via sewage treatment plants (STPs) before being released into the river.
“Should there be any complaints regarding untreated sewage, penalties will be imposed on the STP contractors,” the Chief Minister warned. He also instructed officials to ensure the timely completion of projects under ‘CM Announcements’, stating that delays lead to increased costs.
Furthermore, he mentioned that if any legitimate reason causes a delay in project completion, the officer must document the ‘reason for delay’ in the project file. He also highlighted the necessity of allocating space for fire brigade offices in HSIIDC industrial areas to prevent delays in managing fire incidents. Advising the officers to operate with complete integrity, he urged for total transparency in the execution of various projects and schemes.
