Chandigarh, April 3 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, instructed on Friday that the complete process of building plan approvals for both residential and commercial properties be transitioned to a fully online platform. This initiative aims to boost transparency, enhance citizen convenience, and decrease processing times.

During a meeting with officials from the Urban Local Bodies Department at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of establishing clear timelines and ensuring that officials are held accountable to guarantee timely approvals.

He also assessed various elements of the Urban Challenge Fund and the projects planned for execution in the state under this initiative.

The Chief Minister highlighted the urgent need to bolster wastewater reuse systems in urban regions. He directed officials to maximize the use of treated water from sewage treatment plants (STPs) for purposes such as irrigation of parks, industrial applications, and agricultural activities.

Additionally, he called for the creation of the necessary infrastructure to support reuse, which includes laying down durable pipelines connecting STPs to parks and other end-use locations. Special focus should be placed on utilizing treated water in parks and green spaces, he stated.

Officials reported that all future STPs in Haryana will be required to incorporate reuse systems to foster water conservation.

Saini also requested the compilation of comprehensive data regarding the current sewerage network throughout the state. He insisted on conducting an evaluation of when and based on which population metrics sewerage systems were established in various regions.

Recognizing the significant population growth in many areas—some experiencing increases of up to three times—he stressed the necessity of redesigning infrastructure to meet future demands.

Taking a strong stance against delays, the Chief Minister declared that no setbacks in development projects would be tolerated as the state advances towards the vision of a “Viksit Bharat”.

He mandated that all projects under the Urban Local Bodies be completed within set timelines and cautioned against any delays following the awarding of tenders. Contractors must be clearly instructed to deliver high-quality work on time, and additional personnel and equipment should be utilized as needed to expedite project execution.

The Chief Minister was informed that GIS mapping of approximately 16,000 km of roads has been finalized, and issues are being resolved through the ‘Mhari Sadak’ app. He insisted on strict adherence to directives aimed at ensuring roads are free of potholes and warned of repercussions for officials exhibiting negligence.

The department has pinpointed 2,276 roads within urban local body territories in Haryana.

Out of these, 1,144 roads will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 510.34 crore, including several roads that were previously rural and are now under municipal jurisdiction.

Moreover, 1,083 roads, covering 591.51 km, will undergo reconstruction at an estimated cost of Rs 594.91 crore. An additional 49 roads, spanning 18.25 km, have been identified for patch repairs at a cost of Rs 10.33 crore.
